About this course
Canva is the most accessible design tool in the world — used by Sri Lankan schools, small businesses, content creators and students every day. Our 8-week Canva Graphic Design Masterclass takes Grade 5–10 students from blank-canvas beginners to confident designers producing portfolio-worthy work across social media, print and presentations.
Students learn the foundations of visual design — colour theory, typography pairings, alignment, hierarchy, white space and contrast — applied directly in Canva. Tharindu (our senior designer) walks through real Sri Lankan design briefs and shows students how working designers solve them, then guides each student through their own version.
The course produces ten portfolio pieces by the end: a personal logo, a school-event flyer, a YouTube thumbnail, three social-media posts in a coordinated series, an Avurudu or Vesak greeting card, a one-page presentation slide, a printable mini-poster, and a final brand-kit project for a fictional Sri Lankan small business. Every piece is reviewed individually with the teacher's written feedback.
We also teach how to use Canva for Education's free schools features, image rights and copyright basics (very important — most students don't know what they can legally use), and how to export and share work professionally. Students need only a free Canva account and a laptop.
